Choose tyres for terrain and wheel dimensions
Read the existing sidewall first. Bead seat diameter must match the rim, width must suit rim and frame clearance. Assess tread for asphalt, firm dirt or loose terrain. Models may have different sizes and constructions; check the selected variant. Compare front or rear use with model recommendations; appearance alone is insufficient for tread choice.
- Compare size code and permitted setup.
- Read wire-bead, folding and tubeless information by model.
- Observe tyre and rim pressure limits together.
Does a protective layer prevent every puncture?
No. No tyre can be assumed puncture-proof in all conditions. Terrain, pressure and tyre condition matter too.
Will a wider tyre fit every frame?
Frame, fork and rim limits determine fit. Assess existing clearance and verify manufacturer sizing recommendations before increasing width.
