The Shimano SM-RT54 brake rotor comes with a new type of locking ring with serrations on the outer edge. It can only be used with resin pads. The body is made of stainless steel, the spider is made of aluminum. The SM-RT54 is compatible with disc brakes from the XTR, XT, SLX, Deore, Saint, ZEE, Alfine series and many other groupless MTB and City & Touring brakes.
Note: With the production of thrust bearing hubs, Shimano now has two models of connecting locks.
