Sport Cycling Helmets

A guide to choosing sport cycling helmets

Sport helmets may cover different riding needs. Shape, rear coverage, visor and vents vary. Look beyond appearance and read manufacturer use and model-specific information. Do not assume every helmet from a brand includes identical additional systems.

Stable fit and correct strap adjustment are fundamental. Test glasses or thin head accessories together where planned.

• Measure head circumference as instructed and check the product's size range.
• Examine internal adjustment, chin strap and contact points and assess position when moving your head.
• Read use, cleaning and post-impact assessment instructions and verify standards for the selected model only.

Is lower helmet weight enough?

Weight is not the only criterion. Assess size, head-shape fit and intended use together.

Are products such as Aeroshell helmets?

Some may be covers or accessories for particular helmets. Verify type and exact model fit.
