The HORNET 2 is a really well designed, simple and powerful e-bike carrier that is easy to use and offers great value for money.

Basic ergonomics

The E-HORNET 2 is a very strong, robust and easy-to-use rack for transporting the heaviest e-bikes.

Wide wheel supports allow mounting of most regular bike sizes and tire sizes.

Key features of E-HORNET 2

Assembly: Although it does not come assembled, the E-HORNET 2 is very easy to put together: simply mount the wheel support frame to the base using 4 screws, mount the light bracket with 2 more screws, attach the license plate, attach the rack to the tow ball with no tools required and you are ready to go!

Mounting on the car : When you first place the E-HORNET 2 on the towball it is self-supporting – you can let go and it won’t fall to the ground. You then take the weight again, turn the tightening knob until it is tight and lock it. BUZZRACK’s carriers comply with the very exacting XPR-18-904-4 standard and therefore include an anti-sway tensioner; this has an integrated lever and usually 2 or 3 turns are sufficient. Holding the bike: Place the bike on the wheel support. Adjust the clamp position by sliding it around the vertical tubular frame to find the perfect fit for the bike frame. Clamp the frame, attach the wheels using the ratchet straps, lock the clamps.

Lighting system: The E-HORNET 2 comes with a 7-pin lighting system. A 7-pin to 13-pin adapter is not included but can be purchased optionally.

Overthrow: It is easy to tilt and very well balanced, even with a full load. The HORNET 2 sits very high on the towball and the tilt function is optimised to prevent the lights from hitting the road surface, while using the weight of the bikes to help bring the bike platform back up to level in a controlled manner. However, this geometry does not allow the opening of long vertical tailgates – for example, the VW Transporter T5 and T6.

Transport of bicycles and e-bikes

The wheel holders will fit most wheelbases (not tandems!) including small children's bikes. Check the technical data below
Long rubber-padded wheel straps grip tires up to 4 inches wide; pull to tighten and use the quick release to loosen
The lockable frame arms hold your bikes securely and can be attached to any part of the frame or seat post. They can be locked using the same key as the tow ball attachment system.
The maximum load allowed is 60 kg and no bike can weigh more than 30 kg
Other features and basic specifications

The patented tapered joint fits all tow balls, even bolted tow balls that we sometimes see that do not meet neck length or ball diameter standards.
We would like to remind you that it is locked to the tow ball.
The E-HORNET 2 sits high on its tow ball, away from speed bumps and other hazards such as steep ferry ramps.
Build quality - tube bending, welding, rust proofing, painting, component quality is exemplary. The whole carriage looks and feels first class. All the tools you could possibly need are provided.
All parts can be replaced if, for example, someone forgets the towbar carrier is attached and hits a wall - which happens!

A loading ramp is also available separately.
The maximum load you are allowed to carry is also determined by the towbar nose weight; you will need to check you do not exceed this before using any towball mounted bike carrier.
Requires 65mm clearance from centre of tow ball to rear of vehicle.
