Continental is launching a new endurance runner with the Grand Prix 5000 AllSeason Tubeless Reay (5000 AS TR). The most powerful version of the 5000 series provides confidence and protection in all weather conditions thanks to special adaptations.
Like the top-level racing tyre 5000 S TR, the 5000 AllSeason TR is made with a tread consisting of just 2 fabric layers instead of 3. This provides better adaptation to the surface and reduces rolling resistance. Thanks to the Vectran Breaker puncture protection layer and the grip-enhancing Black Chili tread, the reduced number of layers has no negative effect on puncture protection. The Black Chili compound is specially adapted for the All Season to provide better grip on wet roads and higher mileage. The sidewalls consist of 3 layers and feature increased sidewall protection layers compared to the 5000 S TR.
The 5000 AS TR is also compatible with hookless rims in accordance with the latest technology. However, it can still be ridden with classic rims and also with a tube.

Vectran Crusher
Vectran™ is a synthetically produced, high-tech fiber with a natural pattern. Like spider silk, Vectran™ is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP). Vectran™ is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectra and then processed into a multi-filament yarn. Both spider silk and Vectran™ have tremendous tensile strength at very low weight. Higher puncture resistance and lower weight are the advantages of the Vectran breaker. Vectran is more cut resistant than aramid without affecting rolling resistance, has 5 times the tensile strength of steel and is lighter than nylon yarn. This makes it an ideal protective layer for tires. Vectran was developed for airbag systems in the automotive and aerospace industries.
