HOLLOWTECH II Technology
The HOLLOWTECH II technology concept is focused on producing a superior crankset that will maximize the rider’s power transfer. Weight, a key element of the crankset, ensures the efficiency of the crankset while requiring light pedaling, helping the bike ride longer distances, on which the rider has to pedal more. Naturally, SHIMANO strived for the optimum balance between the conflicting demands of stiffness when producing a lightweight crank. HOLLOWTECH technology is an ultra-lightweight hollow crankarm created by SHIMANO with the company’s own proprietary forging technology that also maintains stiffness. The addition of HOLLOWTECH II technology integrates the bottom bracket axle with the right crankarm for greater rigidity and weight savings to ensure high dimensional stability. Its outboard bottom bracket bearing system provides more efficient power transfer, better weight distribution and greater pedaling stability.
