When it comes to higher torques and for everyday riders who ride in the same gear for long periods of time, wear resistance and smooth operation after long periods of use are crucial. Shimano took these requirements into account when developing the Linkglide components. In both e-bikes and everyday bikes, specially reinforced and optimized components enable trouble-free gear shifting for many years.
The CS-LG700 cassette contributes greatly to the extremely long service life of the Linkglide drive. Compared to Shimano Hyperglide cassettes, the shift covers have been designed to make shifting operations slightly slower, but smoother and smoother. Despite the high chain tensions typical of e-bikes, durability has been increased by approximately 300% compared to conventional cassettes. Even with the extended service life, the Linkglide design ensures smooth shifting in both directions and smooth chain movement.
While the spider is made of aluminum to reduce weight, the gears are still made of coated, durable steel. The wide transmission range of 11-50 teeth allows for even the steepest of slopes.
