Description
With the Dura-Ace Di2 RD-R9150 rear derailleur, Shimano offers the Shadow profile technology known in the MTB sector. Thanks to its extremely flat structure and more direct positioning, the possibility of damage is reduced and cleaner shifting is possible even on uneven surfaces. As always with Di2, this is done smoothly with very little effort. The rear derailleur also features the Synchro Shift function, which automatically adjusts the front derailleur, and is further complemented here by the Semi-Synchro Shift. This means that the rear derailleur is shifted accordingly when the front derailleur is engaged. The RD-R9150 is made almost entirely of super-light carbon and has a short cage length (SS type) for 11-speed cassettes up to 11-30. A direct mount option is also available.

Technology:
Shimano's Shadow RD
Shadow rear derailleurs have a very flat profile that minimizes the risk of snagging on obstacles, allowing for a more aggressive riding style. Additionally, a single preload ensures that the rear derailleur does not hit the chain, even on very rough ground. All of this contributes to quiet, clean-running gear changes.
Digital Integrated Intelligence (Di2) Di2 systems are Shimano's electronic gear shifting systems. They are based on SEIS, the Shimano Electronic Intelligent System, which takes over the index shifting function from mechanical components only via power cables or radio signals, not via a Bowden cable. Shifting is done by simply pressing a button. The advantage of this is that it does not require any great effort, does not disrupt your concentration while riding and is easy to use even with cold hands. Furthermore, electronic gear changes are very fast and extremely precise. There is also no risk of faulty circuits due to dirty cables or other problems. Via the E-Tube Project, you can make individual settings such as adjusting the gear shift speed, the number of gear changes per button press or the Synchro or Semi-Synchro shifting function. Shimano offers an app for this purpose. Gear maintenance and firmware updates are also done via the E-Tube, with the bike connected to a PC running the appropriate E-Tube software for more extensive workshop work.
Shimano Synchronized Shifting
Shimano's synchronized shifting function is a shifting mode that automatically matches the Di2 rear derailleur and Di2 front derailleur. It is activated via the E-Tube platform or via the rear derailleurs with a function button. Synchro Shift means that the front derailleur automatically selects an appropriate gear depending on the position of the rear derailleur, while Semi-Synchro Shift means that a suitable rear derailleur position is automatically set when you engage the front derailleur. This gives you the advantage of concentrating on just one side of the shifting process and not disrupting the rhythm with sudden unwanted changes in gear ratio.
